Creating Charts in Excel

To create a simple chart in Microsoft Excel, you will first want to add your data to the chart.  Using the data from my Daily Data, I will first put the names of the fruits in the first row.  Under each fruit, I will type the number of students that chose that fruit as their favorite.

Next, it is very important that you highlight your data.  Then, press Insert, and choose a chart.

You can change the colors of the chart by clicking on the arrow with a line over it, and choosing a color.

Another option is to create a chart in another sheet by simply highlighting your data and pushing F-11.  You will be given options at the top to change the chart type and/or color.  You can switch between your data and your chart by clicking on the tabs at the bottom of the page.
Students love creating their own charts.  It's easy, and the result is really fancy!
Enjoy!!
