Connect Sums

If you are looking for a fun way to practice speed with basic addition facts or adding coins, my students love the game, “Connect Sums!” It is perfect to play on the Smart Board when you have a little extra time, but can also be played on individual computers as a wonderful Math center.

First, students will choose dice, numbers, or coins. The “?” will choose one of them randomly.  Then, they will choose Solve Mode or Race Mode.

* Solve Mode: Timer counts up until the screen is clear.

* Race Mode: Timer is set on 60 seconds, students clear the board as many times as possible and rack up as many points as possible in that time.

As stated on the site, students will "click on a series of values that add up to the target sum.  The next value clicked in a series must be a neighbor of the last value clicked."

We have mostly used this at the end of the day when we are packed up and waiting for buses. We use Race Mode, so more students have a chance to participate, and they compete for a sticker to go in their sticker books.

Click here to start Connecting Sums! Enjoy!!
